Heather sat on the edge of the waterfall watching it run. Occasionally, she let her hand run over the water at the end of the fountain called a waterfall. Her black hair was down and straight, her hair kind of looked like a 50s hairstyle just a little bit. She had her bangs just a little lower than her forehead and a headband right where her part was.
She had come to the waterfall to get some peace and quiet. Her dorm was loud and noisy today. It was time for the spring fling and every girl was excited to find her date for the dance. Her dilemma was chosing one of them. She had four candidates, one of them was her best friend Taylor Roberts. She hadn't expected him to join the ranks of the crew.

Taylor walked out to the waterfall, he had promised Heather that he would meet her here and he had no intentions of letting her down, he hadn't so far and they had known one another since they were children. Today, he had chosen to wear a pair of dark blue jeans with his usual white sneakers and a graphic t-shirt with a picture of his favourite band on it, system of a down. On the back of the t-shirt was a few random lyrics from random songs, one saying 'maybe you're a sinner into your alternate life, maybe you're a joker maybe you deserve to die'. Anothe said 'and if you go I wanna go with you, and if you die I wanna die with you'. What could he say, he was a fan of the band.
He walked over to Heather and sat beside her beside the waterfall, a serious expression painted across his face as per usual. She always looked great, and today was one of those days. "Hey you" he said, the serious look fading to be replaced by the smallest of smiles.

Heather looked over her shoulder and smiled a bit. It was going to be awkward every chance that they were thrown together. Her gaze drifted back towards the waterfall. She put her hands on her thighs and waited for him to talk. She had no idea what to talk to him about. Her thoughts right now were all mixed up. It was weird having your best friend want to be your date.

He smiled at her nervously not really knowing what to say. Right now, he had felt as though he had put her in an awkward situation, but it was better than some other guy taking her, he didn't think he could stand it. "You look good Heather" he told her, his blue eyes sparkling. "So, what brings you here?" he asked her, trying to be as natural and normal as possible given the situation

Heather smiled back at him nervously. She heard him give her a compliment and she replied, "thanks." Her situation made her feel different about the way other people around her were treated. It wasn't right to choose someone, if only someone could get her off the hook. "just thinking" She replied to his next question.

He looked over at her, trying to find an answer in her green eyes. "Really?" he asked, "thinking about anything in particular?" he asked her. He thought he knew what she might be thinking about, but with Heather you never knew, she could be rather unpredictable at times

Heather looked over at the waterfall and then back into his blue eyes. "nothing in particular" She replied a little drily. She tried to keep most of her life private which she knew she shouldn't do. Most of the cheerleaders, volleyball players and tennis team members didn't know that she did anything other than shop, flirt and play sports.

"Aww, come on Heather.. you know you can always tell me, I'm your best friend...always will be no matter what" he said, trying to convince her to tell him what was on her mind. He would always be here for her, even if she didn't feel the same, he would always be her best friend

Heather smiled lightly "i know that i just don't think you would understand" She replied looking away from him. After seeing that he wanted to go to the dance with her she couldn't look him in the eye. It hurt her so much to know that if she liked someone other than him, he would be sad.

"Come on" he said, "try me" he told her. He liked to think that he was pretty understanding, after all, he had helped his sister get through a series of unfortunate events in her lifetime, he just might be able to help with this one as well. He had a feeling with this one though, in order to help Heather, he would have to put all personal feelings he had for her aside and approach it with an open mind.

"well" Heather said trying to put it off more. She really didn't want to tell him what she was thinking. It wasn't that it was going to hurt him. It was something that wasn't good to discuss with someone that liked you.

"Hun.. you know you can tell me anything and I'll try to help you the best I can" he told her. "Despite my feelings, I will help you, that has always been and will always be one of my first priorities" he told her.

"it's not a matter of helping it's just i don't want you to think that i'm a bad person" Heather replied. She didn't like when people thought that she was just a spoiled rich white girl. It made her feel bad. When she wasn't being an athlete or a scholar she was helping the homeless and donating her old clothes.

"Heather" he started, "don't you know by now that I would never think that.. you have a heart of gold, I see that.. its almost impossible for me to ever think that" he told her. He wasn't sure what had even made her think that he would ever believe she was a bad person, that would never happen, unless she suddenly pulled a Hitler

"you talk about me like i'm an angel or something" Heather said with a small laugh. He talked about her like she was god. It was nice but sometimes he overdid it. She didn't like to talk about herself like she was some kind of great person.
